Hey Tom, I put my Roady antenna on my parcel shelf and it works great. Granted, where I live is pretty flat and there are not lots of over-passes and huge buildings. But whatever you prefer...
In regards to routing the antenna cable, I went from under the dash ashtray to the rear parcel shelf with no visable wires and this sounds like what you want to do. I started with the antenna where I wanted it and secured the line with cable ties as I went. I went under the back package tray, through the wire pass-through on the left side of upper back seat (as viewed from facing forward), under the carpet after pulling the lower back seat, under the sill trim (and carpet) next to both side doors, under the carpet below left-hand driver's feet and up to the center console under the trim.

I did this so long ago, it is a little foggy... Let it be said that I take no responsibility in you screwing up your car! I did not have the service manual at the time, so I just felt my way through. It turned out great, but I will save you the headaches. So paraphrasing the manual:

1. Detach rear seat (lower) by lifting it at its front edge. (There are 2 clips that will break if you lift the back edge of the seat up too high)
2. Remove front and rear scuff plates (they pull straight up after you pull back the rubber seal.) Lift up the bottom edge of the backrest bolster to remove the rear scuff plate.
3. Adjust front seat belt to lowest position. Remove B-pillar trim by pulling outwards at the bottom. (there are several clips and keep in mind the panel is one big piece - floor to headliner). Manoeuvre (ed) the B-pillar trim downwards. (Tape it to the door jam if you need to go somewhere before you are finished and make sure you align the adjuster up before you clip the panel back on.)
4. Tip the rear seat backrest down. Unhook the rear seat side bolster from the lower mounting. Press the center section of the bolster backward while pressing the bolster toward the center of the car to disengage the bolster's center mounting. Remove the bolster by pressing in the clip so that the upper part of the bolster (ed - comes loose?) from its mounting. Remove the top part of the belt guide. (Give yourself a beer if you can get this part out without breaking any clips. This should give you nice access to the parcel tray from the trunk.)
5. Remove center console side trim by unscrewing one torx bolt and pulling the part down and back.
6. Reinstall in reverse.

Best of luck!!
