'04 Arc with Continentals - feels weird

All, I had my '03 Vector in for service this past saturday (On-Star re-programming) and the dealer kindly let me have use of the sales managers personal '04 Arc with 6 speed. Hmmm. Continental Contact 2's instead of the Pirelli P-Zero Rossos on my Vector. I believe the car has slighty less rebound damping and softer springs (maybe slightly taller too), but the difference in the way these cars feel at speed on a sweeper is shocking -- the Vector feels so much more secure (with the Pirellis) and seems to have so much more grip and control in reserve. So my question to "those in the know" is -- what is the exact diference in the suspension between these two models? Is the difference mostly in the suspension, the tires, or a combination of both? (I've only got about 2000 miles on my Vector and based on what I've read on this site I don't expect more than 15K out of the Pirellis....but based on this 50 mile drive with the Arc/Continental set up I doubt I'd go for the Continentals!)
