Six speed will be a lot more fun when there's no traffic....it depends on your driving style and how much traffic you have to deal with.
I drove a 5 speed 9-3SS a few weeks ago (granted, it was a rental car in Ireland, and was the 150hp, 1.8t engine and a RHD car) and found the transmission to feel vastly superior to the previous generation 9-3. I had a 2000 Viggen for three years, and upgraded to a 9-5 Aero wagon (auto), but I have a manual C900 convertible for fun.
The new 9-3 seems to have a nice light clutch, and is very easy to shift smoothly...this is a big selling point FOR the manual. Personally, the Sentronic is more of a gimick. I have it in my wagon, and ONLY use it when driving in the snow and am looking to downshift to slow down.
Good luck with your decision!
