03 Vector ignition switch

My wife calls from a gas station saying she can't start the car. Key willl not turn ignition on to start car, only unlocks stearing wheel. So I drive over to try to start the car with no luck.

Called Saab roadside assistance and they said to try moving stearing wheel side to side to see if that makes a difference, no luck. So we arrange for a tow truck.

I remembered reading here about starting the car with your finger, using key to unlock the ignition, holding close enough to it and then turn the ignition will your finger. So I figured I had nothing to lose, gave it a try and as the tow truck pulled up I started the car the car with my finger! Got out of the car with it running with the key in my hand. Truck driver thought i was nuts

Took the car to the dealer the next day. They had the car for two days and ended up replacing the ignition switch. I ask them if I could still start the car with my finger, they said no. Got home and tried it and can still do it.
So if you ever have this problem remeber to try your finger, which ever one works best for you.
