I am first time Saab owner (03 9.3 ARC 6 speed), bought NEW in October of 2003. I've logged just under 14,000 miles (I have about a 100 mile daily commute M-F) and have not had any real problems.
I think it is genus of Saab/GM to supply this car with a motor that gets 30+ miles to the gallon. The front wheel drive is a refreshing change from the rear drive BMW 325i I traded in...I deal with the nasty north cost winters. The 9.3 handles superbly, gets great gas mileage, is a rocket on the freeway with the Turbo power and is a flat out great looking car, in my opinion (Looks; my primary reason for buying it). It has fulfilled my needs thus far and dealer service has been top notch.
The only areas of concern are the annoying rattles and vibrations in the cockpit. I did take it in for brake pad replacement (front) and service (rear). I've also have to take it in for On-Star malfunction, no big deal and to have the exhaust heat shield adjusted. The 16” Pirelli are wearing nicely.
We will see how she holds up, but so far so good!
