Have an automatic as well. No complaints so far. The stick is really, really nice - even if Car & Driver calls it clunky....my experience with the stick was that it seemed so smooth their reference point must be a stick shift I haven't driven! Anyway, the stick runs pretty doggone well, and I've driven sticks about half my life - but went with the automatic. Reasons include 1) Wife doesn't drive stick, 2) While most of my miles are highway miles, most of my driving time is city traffic, and 3) Getting the distinct impression from the dealer that stick is going the way of the dinosaurs - so one far off day from now, automatic may have better resale - even in a stick-shift Saab culture. Oh, and it is increasingly difficult to outshift the computer....the tendency to run to higher RPM's in lower gears for acceleration when running manual can now - or at least increasingly - be outrun by the machine that gets to higher speed faster - unless you're really adept....and I don't get enough "practice" at those sorts of accelerations to high speed (driving in the city) to make this claim. That said, I kind of like the stick shift - gear shift mechanism - better than the slider mechanism in the automatic - but this is probably just a mechanical aesthetic hangover. Go for the automatic and enjoy it.
