I could not agree more!
I went to the SAAB driving event where everyone got to drive the 9-3SS as well as all the cars Scott listed and a 9-5 Aero. The course consisted of an autocross course, a wet accident avoidence stage, acceleration and braking stage, and a bump strip stage with two sizes of bump strips.
The main discussion amoug the participants was not how good any of the cars were but just how aweful the Volvo was! It handled the worst by far and rode the worst over the bump strips! There is nothing like being able to jump from one car to the next to really compare them.
If you are curious about the opinions from the participants at my event, those that prefered RWD really liked the feel of the 325 (which performed much worse on the wet accident avoidence stage than the FWD cars--side note: the C240 was the worst on this stage, with almost all drivers loosing complete control and many actually spinning out). Those that prefered FWD as well as a good number with no preference liked the A4 and/or the 9-3SS. Everyone was impressed with the 9-3SS styling (although I am not ready to give up the hatch yet!). And as mentioned, everyone agreed that the S60 was so bad, it was in a class far below the rest of the field.
