I saw one 01 9-5 SE owner towed into local saab dealership couple days ago..

Tech instantly diagnosis as needs long block..

Even car only has 48 K on it. Saab refuses to pay for the motor.

The reason was.. the owner didn't perform 20K service
(He did 30 day, 10K, 30K but not 20K service)

and If he doesn't have any reciept that he perform 20K service in
saab dealership, saab refuses to pay for the new motor.
(Even car is still under warranty..)

Also, my friend, who has 00 9-3 SE, also had bad motor couple month
ago, his warranty was expired at two months ago and car has 52K miles on it. but since he did all the service under same dealership, service rep from saab agrees to BUY BACK his car.. he pays another 10K and got brand new 2004 9-5 ARC.

Local dealership purchased that 9-3SE (LEMON) for next to nothing
(about 4K. and saab pays 2/3 of the engine labor cost as a good will.
now, that car is driven by wife of the owner of that dealership..)

So, If you think you have pretty good chance of any weird situation with saab, just do it, (even no charge maint. only pays for semi-synthetic,,)

(I always pay diffrence (about couple bucks) for full-synthetic)

I'm verypicky about oil change interval.. frequent oil change and check by tech never hurt my car. I'm change my oil every 2.5K (no more than 3K))
