Aero CV mostly cosmetic..... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Advice on '04 or '05 vert, Arc. v Aero, jasonlk, Fri, 2 Jul 2004 10:01:40 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
IMO the secret to the handling of any 9-3SS is the weight distribution, all aluminum suspension components and the Re-Axe, not the size of the wheels or the height of the suspension. The beauty of the 9-3SS chassis is that if you do go for the 17's and lower sport chassis you won't suffer a poor ride like with the German brands.
With some Saab models you have to get the Aero to get the big engine and brakes, not so with the 9-3SS. And normally the seats in an Aero are entirely different, but with the 'Verts the Aero seat is almost identical and I'm not fond of the two-tone look of the Aero seat.
That leaves the front spoiler which winds up being almost 2+ inches lower (got dips?) as the chassis is 10mm lower and the spoiler is deeper, the side skirts, the rear spoiler, and the rear valance with the black out diffuser look and chrome exhaust tip. Add to that the extra stereo speakers including the subwoofers that fire out of that cloth patch at the base of the rear seatback, and the shift paddles on the wheel for autos or the 6-speed for the sticks, and you get a good value out of the extra $1,500 for the Aero, the difference normally being $2,500 but take away $1,000 for an Arc with the 17's.
I just had a customer yesterday and I calculated using the ad lease terms of 36 mos at 12k with $2,999 down on a base stick Arc, that the same deal on an Aero would be $85ish more per month, from $469 on the Arc to $550ish on the Aero and good luck getting a Saab dealer to cut you the same margin on a fairly common Arc as a hard to get 6-speed Aero! The Arc is $2,500 cheaper and has a big incentive and a higher residual, although the Aero has a small incentive and slightly better rates, but a lower residual.
Right now there is 3.9% for 60 months vs a zero/zilch incentive on the Verts for financing. The long deal on 'Verts is the lease with a decent incentive on the Arc and a small but noteworthy incentive on the Aero COMBINED with super low lease rates. There's also an extra $250 owner/lease loyalty for Verts, $750 vs the normal $500 continuing for this months programs.
I think there's a way to ad an aux input to a 9-3SS and then get a Garmin Palm Pilot GPS for $599 (instead of the $2k ish forthe factory Saab item), go with an Arc lease and really save some dough.
The only better deal on a Vert is European delivery, but no financing or leasing is availible yet.
