I agree, the car is absolutely terrific. The manual seems to indicate nothing other than mild washing for the top. My previous VW cloth top has lasted 6 years and looks as good as new with no special treatment at all. other than regular washing. And it spent 5 days a week baking under hot LA sun. The Saab is too beautiful for that, so I'm upgrading my parking at work to a garage.
Speaking of strange minor gremlins, what about the automatic climate control? It works beautifully when I put up the top, goes into Auto mode and seems to know what to do. Sometimes when I put down the top, however, it leaves the AC on (the manual says it should be off, and indeed, most of the time it is off), and also it sometimes randomly decides that I want to receive a 1, 2, or 3 level of heating (or whatever it is that corresponds to those numbers), when I left it at 0. have you noticed anything like this?
I will visit a dealer next week to install an AUX cable for an iPod, so might ask about this, but these intermittent things are notoriously difficult for dealers to diagnose. It helps to know whether other owners experience similar problems or not. Thanks.
