I have a 2003 9-3 w/the sport suspension that continues to exhibit the intermittend front suspension 'clunking' noies, esp. in cooler weather (I had posted on this issue before and only had other folks chime in that they too were experiencing the problem). I took the car to my dealer previously, who indicated that Saab did not have a fix for the prob, and opened a case with Saab Customer assistance, and while they were polite, essentially admitted that they could do nothing more than log my issue.
After not receiving any updates from Saab or my dealership on the status of this issue for 4 or 5 months, I contacted my dealership yesterday and talked w/both a service writer and the lead tech. The tech. was very revealing, as he indicated that he believes the prob to be in the strut itself, as they have replaced the struts and the upper strut bearings on other '03 and newer 9-3's in an attempt to fix the problem, to no avail. He admitted to being frustrated with Saab, who doesn't appear to be making any effort to resolve the issue, and instead have told him that these noises are 'normal' (which is clearly a line of BS for a modern vehicle).
Has anyone else had success (luck ?) in getting this issue resolved on a new 9-3 and if so, how was it corrected ? While I know that there's clearly lots of happy Saab owners out there, esp on this BB, this is the kind of quirky issue that I was concerned about when I bought this car (my first, and perhaps last, Saab), as one doesn't even expect these kind of issues on Korean cars these days (this is not the only defect that I have encountered to date w/the car, but the dealer has been able to resolve the others).
