I can't say from specific experience with your model year or computer, because I drive a 99 9-3 SE HOT, but here's my experience. I tried using lower octance gas, and I was greeted with poor performance, idling stumbles, rotten egg smell, and a check engine light. Luckily, I had just bought the car a week before, so I took it back to the dealer (who sells nothing but Audi, Saab, VW) to be checked out under his unwritten warranty (great dealership, saab pro's). As soon as I told him what the symptoms were, the first words out of his mouth were "you put lower than 93 octance gas in it, didn't you?" Then he said, bring it in, we'll check it out, but you can't put anything lower than 93 in this car. He reset the check engine light for free, and I would assume added some octance booster. A tankful of 93 later, It was back to my old Saab again. :)
Good luck!
