2003 9-3 Headlight failure

Here's a little something that I just encountered with my 9-3 SS. Last week, within a day both my front low beam headlights burned out. Now figuring that I live in Ontario and they're used as DRL's and having owned the car for over a year I thought that having the bulbs burn out was acceptable and went to the dealer to buy new bulbs. After purchasing the replacement bulbs one of the service techs went to do the install. And here's the big surprise, when he removed the bulb from the headlight assembly, we noticed that the wires leading to the bulb were burnt and corroded and was short circuiting. The copper wires were exposed and were actually green and there were flakes in the plastic seal; so this has been corroding for a while.
I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this problem with their cars, I did a quick search and didn't see any messages relating to this, but I thought that maybe those of you who have had to replace your bulbs early might also be experiencing the same problem (but maybe not as severe). I wonder what other wiring in the car might be defective now... Oh, and I also noticed that as soon as the bulbs blew the computer started acting odd, like the radio wouldn't turn on, and then it wouldn't turn off (Key removed, radio on/off button cycled but the radio kept on playing), and various onStar malfunction messages on the SID.
If anyone else has had this or similar problems let me know! when wires are corroding and sort circuiting, it's a saftey hazard and GM should be informed for a potential recall.
Thanks
BH
