2004 vs 2005....No new wrinkles.... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] ![]() ![]() |
The 9-3 line is pretty much a carryover, Linear, Arc and Aero sedans, and now a Hydroblox Textile interior Linear Convertible has been added to the mix.
Linears get standard 16's and the silver intrument bezels, Arcs get the memory seats moved to a package, Aeros come standard with a moonroof and ditto the memory seats. Minor reshuffling making Linear, Arc or Aero luxury packages more inclusive, more consistent with the 9-5 lines, and cutting down on the possible combinations.
And of course Nav for $2,295 in the Arcs and Aeros. I had a chance to use a few different systems and one advantage in the 9-3 system I used in Sweden last September is that some of the intructions come up in the binnical at the base of the windshield and are easier to see.
If you're eyeing an '04 at your local dealer, with HUGE incentives, I don't think there's anything at all that will make you wish you waited for an '05. A few new colors, smoke beige replacing expresso black, chile red replacing merlot, parchment silver is a beige-ish silver like the old citron silver, graphine green, glacier blue, hazelnut and expresso black have gone away.
'Cept for nav, no new wrinkles. Most of what's been done is refining of the option mix, standard equipment, value and price points to make about 50% less possible combinations and to close the gaps between models making the whole selling process, Linear to Arc to Aero, and 9-3 to 9-5, make more sense. Which is where I thought the work needed to be done as the cars are fabulous.
