6 speed Aero is rare car...... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: 2004 Aero Lease question, JMal, Tue, 17 Aug 2004 07:02:28 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Very seldom in Saab land do we get a desireable car in short supply, but this summer it's 6 speed 9-3 Aeros. 6 speed production was halted early as a small percentage of owners are unhappy with their 6 speed gearboxes. For 2005 Aeros revert to 5 speeds.
So philosphically your dealer is sharing the Saab incentive with you, but none of his pie, and his justification is they'll sell the car anyway. Practically there is nothing to stop you from offering less and nothing to prevent the dealer from saying no. There's not much mark-up in a Saab at MSRP, the factory incentive far exceeds what the dealer can do, but perhaps they'll cut you a reasonable break. MSRP, all the Saab incentives, all the rate, makes even MSRP for a hard to find car an overall excellent deal.
From my calculations your dealer is giving you every break on the lease too. I believe the rate has been slightly misquoted, missed by two decimal points, not 2%, but 0.02%, almost zero, a 53 cent a month lease charge in my calculations.
A low payment and a low residual is a win-win. If you do decide to keep the car the buyout is lower and maybe, though unlikely, you might have some equity to work with, or make a profit on the car at the end of the lease with such a low residual. That has happened from time to time. The standard 15k residual is 56% for 24 months, add a point for 12k, 10k is not availible for 24 month leases.
2 year deals are normally lots more expensive the 3 year deals but Saab's incredibly low rate make 24 months it a good option.
