Thanks for sharing and good pics Jeff.
I've had my SID out the last 2 week ends, haven't made any progress tho.
Tried 1 elastic, this w/e just changed it, after running blunt object across the ribbon connector. Actually lost another row, flexing cable not helping. Next I'll add another elastic.
Been cool / dry enough, pixels usually came back.
Close inspection shows possible cable - board alignment prob - I imagine top / bottom tabs on cable overlay. Soldering iron will be my last resort, things can go from bad to worse fast!
What wattage iron did you use?
I think 30W - 40W recommended for solder ribbon cable in general according to earlier post.
btw I don't have the cup holder - but 4 decking screws into the radio and it pulls easily. Also noted SID popped out pretty easy - had to reach up high enough in back to push on 'the right thing'.
Glad to know so many successes on this connection - why don't we worry about the other end of ribbon cable?
