I had this happen on my 2000 9-3 at about 62,000. My indy replaced both O2 sensors and the DI cassette without fixing the problem. I finally bought a code reader to reset the CEL myself and see if it repeated. It would come back on after an average of about 60 mi. Since my indy had said he would replace the air mass meter next, I swapped it myself with the one in my 2001 9-3 (nice to have two Saabs of similar vintage--got any good friends with a 9-3?). The 2001 started idling rough at startup and its CEL light came on. The 2000 ran fine with no CEL. So, I put in a new air mass meter and it's been fine for the last 40,000 mi. When I compared the screen in the faulty air mass meter to the new one, it looked dirty. The trouble is the P0171 code is that it just indicates the mixture is too lean without pinpointing the cause. Good luck.
