The DIC may have had codes caused by the intake air leak. Old DIC may have been in perfect condition. It would have to be tested with the other repair in place. DIC would not be able to ingnite the lean mixture all of the time and that would be a mis fire event. The cat converter would still be eating the unburnt fuel when the ignition did not happen. If you have a CEL for the CAT later on, that would be a result of that misfiring, from a either cause.
