If you're replacing the front struts, you might as well replace the springs. You need to remove both to replace the struts so the labor won't be too different.
I was quite happy with the Eibachs in my 99 9-3SE. I took them out because I wanted even stiffer springs and ended up with the B&G which were too stiff and low. Went back to the stock springs and found that the Eibachs offered the best compromise of ride and handling. The rears are a DIY but the fronts may be more difficult.

Sounds like the fog lights were damaged by kicked up rocks or by going over the curb in front when parking. My in-laws did that to my wife's Aero and smashed a fog light. I didn't complain because they've done so much for us.
