I brought my car into Lehman Saab in North Miami for the routine 20,000 mile service. I asked the service writer to pay special attention to premature brake pad wear as My last Saab had exactly the same problem at exactly the same mileage.
Sure enough, he called me this morning to tell me that the front pads were 90% worn and needed to be replaced. I told them to hold off on the repairs until they heard from Saab USA. I called the 1-800 number and spoke to Phyllis in the customer service department. She was particularly helpful and said that they would call Lehman and take care of the problem.
The next call came from Lehman, telling me that the car was ready and the brakes were taken care of by Saab.
There are many posts on this bulletin board discussing the poor service and complaining about warranty issues. In this case, I think that special praise is due to Francis Walker of Lehman Saab and Phyllis at Saab USA Customer Service for the swift and professional manner in which this issue was handled.
That's why I'm on my third Saab.
Oh yes, and the Saab 9-5 SportWagon loaner was nice too!
