Nokian Hakka 2 (Just great, very good on ice when studded)
Nokian Hakka Q (no studding, a step down from Hakka 2 but does not need studs)
Nokian WR (Sort of an all season but sporty and gets you by in the yuck)
Bridgestone Blizzak (Almost as good as Hakka2, handles worse, short life) (There's the WS-50 which is the real snow tire and the LM-22 which you might want to put on a performance car)
Gislaved Nordfrost (There's a 2 and a 3. Both great. Stud them if you're afaid of ice) Probably the quietest of the bunch.
Michelin Artic Alpin (handles better than most snow tires. Good in the slippery stuff. so-so in deep snow) (quiet except for they have a high-pitched whistle in the wet) (mine wore down quite fast as I kept spinning them trying to accelerate quickly in the dry)
Kumho (I forget the model but they make a studdable snow tire which is apparently quite good and possibly a decent price) (noisy though)
Firestone Winterfire (studded). These are actually quite good in the deep snow. I had some but made the mistake of not studding them. They last a long time too. A definite snow tire. Noisy.
I've had the Gislaved Nordfrost 2, Nokian Hakka 2, Firestone Winterfire, and the Michelin Artic Alpin.
