Currently, the S40 T5 or the S40 T5 w AWD are superior value choice to any SAAB, Audi or (Gasp) Honda (shoot me now) - the only negative I found in test driving the 2005 S40s was the damn aircraft carrier flight deck width needed to execute a U-turn which is common to all Volvos. Also handling and steering are not quite as sharp at speed as modified 99 9-3 with a viggen rescue kit but your wife obviously cares little for that-Sell her on the safety of the Volvo (curtain airbags far far superior to the Honda in all respects)- less likely to get stolen for parts etc. All in the the S40 T5 is a good deal and much better looking than a TSX or 9-2 Suburu with a SAAB emblem on it. Sure its shares a platform with the MAZDA 3 and the EURO Ford Focus but that aint necessarily a bad thing. Its made in Ghent, Belgium by Walloons-Flemish speaking Belgiums.
