Hi All,

I've searched this forum and the rest of the web in the hope that someone else is having the same problems I'm having. My soft top works great, no "check soft top", no stuttering, no failure in the middle of thunderstorms. Needless to say, I'm cautiously ecstatic.

What *is* happening is this: when the top opens, and completes the last part of it's cycle before the cover slaps down on top of it, the interior fabric rubs against the locking mechanism ('tonneau cover lock' as far as I can tell). The top ends up with a kind of a hard black grease smeared on it, which dries and flakes into small bits that fall all over the rear seat, and the carpet (next time you close the top). They can be picked off, but are soft enough to leave a black grease mark on your fingers if smeared.

Has anyone seen this before, or have any suggestions? Is there possibly some kind of guard missing that protects the interior roof fabric from the locking mechanism? I can post a picture if it would help someone point me in the right direction.

It's getting so that anyone who sits in the back seat needs to wipe the leather before sitting down, or they end up with permanent grease polkadots!
