FYI,
I just replaced the DI cassette (RED) on My '99 9-3 and it was quite painless (except in the pocket book).
1. Remove 4 Torx screws that fasten the Cassette to the Valve Covers.
2. Lift the unit straight up at first, then tilt it back toward the right side where the ignition module harness connects.
3. Slide back the red retaining clip that connects the DI cassette to the ignition module harness. You may have to loosen up the small red tabs (one on each side) that retain the clip with a screw driver (being careful not to break them. Then just separate the DI cassette from harness.
4. Reverse the procedure with the new DI cassette.
It took me a little longer than 5 minutes because the place I had gone to get the engine diagnotics run torqued the TORX fasteners so tight that I needed a real TORX head screwdriver (not the plastic one the car comes with) to remove the four retaining bolts. I had to borrow one from my neighbor.
You may want to swap the plugs while you are at it. Mine had 60K + on them and had gapped out to 0.050.
Happy (but poorer) owner of 99 9-3 with 126K miles.
Dave
