Hi Tim,

I bought a 2001 9-3 convertible here in Pittsburgh on July 3rd with 34,000 miles on it. The car was in immaculate shape. Midnight blue with blue top. It was CPO with the warranty extended to 100,000 miles. I would not buy one without it. With the milage you have stated the CPO warranty should be included. Expect to pay more as the warranty from Saab costs the dealer $1500 I believe.

In the last month, within the 90 day period from July 3rd, the car started leaking coolant from the head gasket which had to be replaced. Retorquing the head bolts didn't cure it. The mechanic said that in these newer engines they have what is called "stretch bolts" that are a little different than the old ones. He said the old ones you just torqued them to 300 ft. lbs. and were good to go. These sometimes require retorquing he said.

Also, the convertible top would not completely finish its cycle. The tonneau cover would drop but the back part of the top, (with the rear window) would not descend and completely close. They replaced the hydraulic pump.

Everything on both of these problems was entirely covered under the CPO warranty, included loaner car (new Saab 9-2x) or rental car.

The car is great. I am glad I bought it. It drives beautifully, is great with the top down, even in cold weather. I turn on the seat heater, fire up the regular heater, have all the windows and the top down, and it is pretty cozy even in the 40's. I do wear a cap!

I hope you enjoy your car. This is my 3rd Saab. I have owned Mercedes, BMW, and Porsche. I like this car better than the Mercedes or the BMW. Both of these cars cost me a fortune to maintain, especially the BMW.
