The Saab rack is actually made by THULE, so all accessories from THULE will fit.
The only time you really need to worry about hurting the paint, is if you get fairing. If you want to keep it on the car all the time, the fairing helps cut down the wind noise by a lot! But you have to make sure its sitting far enough forward that is rests on the top of the windshield, otherwise, it will scratch the paint. Although the new fairings might be fine.
Either way, they are extremely useful, and in my opinion really make the car look great.
