Hi, the "time for service" light is based on a bunch of variables, such as driving styles, the number of time you start and stop, cold starts, etc. It's very possible that you have had "easier" driving in since the first oil change, perhaps more highway driving, or you are just not flooring the car as much these days. You can check the approximate oil quality in the SID. Press the config button, scroll down to the second to bottom selection and select. Again go to the second to bottom option and select. I forget what the options are called, something like service info or similar. You should be able to figure these out. There will be a oil quality in percentage, the light comes on when it reaches 0%. There is also a days until service, but I wouldn't worry about this. This is purely a timer, set to indicate service at 600 days or something. You should be able to follow the SID indication as test have shown that a high quality synthetic, such as the Saab oil or Mobile 1 can be good for 15000 miles. A lot of people still change the oil between the "free" changes by saab. If you change it yourself between service visits it won't reset the SID, but be sure to use the right type of oil.
Good luck, Ryan
