I got 37000 miles out of my Sumitomo HTR Z II's. Would not purchase these again due to very poor wet traction, high noise level, as well as lots of vibration problems as they got older. Rebalanced the tires several times, but were not able to get rid of the vibrations. Cant complain about the amount of miles I got out of them, but I ended up purchasing Pirelli PZero Nero M+S instead.
I went from 205/50/16 Sumitomos (summer tires) to 225/45/17 Pirelli (all season) and found that the Sumitomo tires had a stiffer side wall and had less "roll" in hard corners than my Pirellis. Guess that was the only good point in favor of the Sumitomos, but then again, you are comparing a summer tire to an all season tire. The ride is much smoother and quieter with the Pirellis, and I absolutely love them in the wet conditions here in Seattle! Sticks like glue!
