I know my car always seems to run a lot better when it's clean after it's been serviced at my local Saab dealer. Most dealers wash 'em when they're in for service nowadays.
My bet is that the "scientific comparison" that would support your theory is psychological and not mechanical.
There is a small possibility that whoever drives your car while it's being serviced hot rods around, or at least hot rods in comparison to the way you yourself drive the car. This would cause the car to learn a more aggressive transmission and engine management programming, but I don't know if oil change mileage would do that in that brief window.
