Engine Knocking...8 year warrenty pre-questions

Luckly (knock on wood) my 2000 aero w/105k miles is running o.k. and i have my orginial engine. But with the cold snap we have been having here in the Northeast over the past several weeks i have noticed a knocking sound in the engine if i do not warm the car up to drive it to lunch or out to run around (get out of the office). Once i drive several miles the noise stops. Lately when the car is warming up in the morning the engine has been very loud. I called the dealer and schedule an appointment for Thursday (actual pick up loaner Wednesday night).

So with everything that is going on with a news release by SaabUSA schedule for sometime this week and what SAAB AB has announced, should i push the appointment off until later, or will it be good to have had the car looked at before any offical news breaks?
