IF an engine is already apart, it doesn't hurt to put in a new timing chain, labor-wise. But it makes no sense to replace just a chain - the chain moves on other parts, and if the chain is worn, so would the others. So that would be chain, sprockets, and guides. And the balance shaft chain and guides, too. Parts wise, not cheap. With the head off, it's very easy to visually inspect the condition of the chain.
I've never replaced a timing chain on a Saab, and I've run a few of them to 150K and 165K. And the timing chains were fine up there.
