No, it is really pretty easy. Push in the center of the three plastic plugs on the carpeted cover on the left side of the right footwell, and pull the plugs and the cover away. Remove three screws at the bottom of the glovebox, three screws along the inside top, disconnect the light and the cooling hose, then just pull the glovebox out.
Then it is just removing 10 or so 6mm hex head screws on the side of the heater box, pulling out the old filter, cleaning the space where the filter sat of old leaves, grit, then reinstalling the foam insulation piece that fits over the two heater pipes, and sliding in the new filter (making sure the airflow mark is properly aligned).
Took me about 15 minutes total. It might take 2 hours if you don't know at all what you are doing!
I'd recommend getting the real Saab filter, as it includes a new foam insulation piece for the top of the filter. The aftermarket filter I bought once didn't have this, and the old foam had disintegrated, so I had to fashion something myself.
