The cat converter seems to take a few days of operation sometimes for the ECU to decide that its not right, then you get a CEL. At 70 MPH steady speed, the turbo is not on boost and you are at around -.2 Bar (vacuum). But the danger is there. I think that when folks are on cruise control, the ECU keeps fueling and firing the plugs, but no spark. As speed drops, the ECU opens the throttle even more. When this happens when someone has foot on throttle, I expect that they do not press the throttle open... but who knows. I wonder if the new ECU software that addresses DI issues is intellegent enough to stop fueling when the DI does a complete failure.

Cracks in the rubber do not matter much. You can remove the black plastic etc from the failed unit to this spare if the failed unit has better rubber parts etc. Or perhaps just move the rubber bits.
