I would recommend 16" wheels for the Aero (that's the smallest you can go due to your larger brakes). If you stick with 17"s, you compromise safety and snow handling for sportier dry handling.
I'm also in the Toronto area and I'm using 15" Blizzaks on my wagon (non-Aero unfortunately). My car is very sure-footed in the snow.
I've also tried:
Nokian Hakkapellita 1's on a Honda Prelude - great tires, better than the Blizzaks IMO
Canadian Tire Brand Motomaster Winter tire on a VW Golf 1.8T - for economy tires, these were excellent; close 3rd to the Blizzaks.
Hankook W300 on a Mazda 3 Hatch GT - also economy tires, but easily the worst of the bunch - still much better than the stock all-seasons though.
Hope that helps.
