are you missing the cosmetic top cover, i.e. the painted thing over the actual black cover or are you missing the whole thing with the washer jet ? If you are missing the jet assembly, then the fluid would definitely come out toward the front in large quantities.

In my case, everything outside is intact, the missing part is a cover on what seems like a check valve of sort. This valve is before the jet. With the cover missing on the valve, the washer fluid would come out toward the FRONT of the car when the washer is extended.

Is your car under warranty ? If so, I would just let the dealer deal with it. If not, you need to see what's missing. The thing extends quite a distance forward, you can actually pull the thing forward, NOT UPWARD (as I initially thought). The washer jet itself can be pull off from the remaining of the system as well as the check valve thingy. Everything in there is just press-fitted together; so chances are if they were loose, they would just come out when pressurized.

I wish eEuroparts had a picture of the washer system we could look at.
