The dealer can reprogram that annoying door autolocking using the Tech II, the handheld programming tool. There are lots of other preferences that can be set at the same time: Euro headlight mode, chirp on/off and number of chirps when using remote, trunk locking prefs, etc. There is a chart of options in your owners manual. The dealer will charge you a fee to reprogram, so it's best to request all changes at the same time. Negotiate the fee up front or be surprised! It only takes the tech a minute or two.
DI stands for Direct Ignition. It is the integrated coil module that you see across the entire top of the head. SAAB has used them since at least the 1991 model year. A new DI cassette costs around $300. In the past they have been extremely reliable. Recent posts here indicate that there may be an engineering problem with some DIs, perhaps some installed on model year 2001 and perhaps other model years? I am something of a skeptic but there are DI trouble believers here who will give you chapter and verse. I would not recommend carrying a spare DI, but others do.
Welcome!
