Can't help you with a recommendation in WA state...sorry. But as far as colors and such go, get one that suits the color of your car. I have a black aero, and put on black tints, well more charcoal. Some folks like goldish, reddish, bronze...etc. I think those really only go well against certain color cars.

Try to find a dealer that sells Diamond Film brand, that would be my best suggestion. They offer a lifetime warranty and for $20 extra, a no-fault warranty. So if you break the window, burn the tint, scratch it...etc, it's all covered for life, even if it's your fault. Plus the tint itself holds up really well, never seen that brand bubble or lose color. Also, a good tinter will know how to apply the film w/o having to remove your door panels...just ask about that when you inquire. Some places like to rip apart half the car just to make it easier, but there really is no need.

I only did 35% light transmission when I lived in CO because I knew that was max CT law since I was moving back out here and didn't want to fail inspection and have them ripped off.

There's different level of tints. You can even get ones that are very mild as far as color, but will reduce UV transmission by up to 99% which helps keep your leather, dashboard and everything else safe from those rays. My favorite part is the way it reflects heat. Sometimes it's hard to believe that the car can be baking in the sun on a hot august day and actually be cooler inside of it...especially with it being black.
