Your dealer has it bass ackwards. The Saab pads are very good at eliminating the stock rotors, and generating all that dust in the process, and doing it in about 30-40 K miles a set. I am on my second set of EBC gReen Stuff pads on my 02 Aero and like them a lot. Using stock rotors because I have no reason to switch, at least not yet. Some may comment that the EBC pads do not brake as well as the stock ones, and that simply is not true. They will have a somewhat harder feel t othem so you will be using a little more pedal pressure to achieve the same % G stops as the stock pads, but that is not a bad thing in my opinon. I am hearing good things about other pads as well, such as those with ceramic elements in them and might try those for my next set, but would not go back to stock in any circumstances until Saab changes them to a more acceptable version. Problem is not unique to Saab. Just look at Volvo, MB, BMW, Audi, VW front wheels. They are all black as well.
