Welcome to the wonderful world of Saab Warranty. The Failed part # is just that, however it is not the actual part # of the part that failed. The failed part #s and Labor operation # used to be obtained from the labor guide and now from the Standard Time Manual (STM). The numbers roughly corrolate with the old service manuals. For example, Group 1 was for Service/Maintanence work. You see that the 10K, 20K, 30K service failed part #s start with a 1.
Group 2 = engine, fuel system, turbo, TCS
Group 3 = electrical
Group 4 = trans, driveshafts, shifter
Group 5 = brakes, ABS
Group 6 = steering
Group 7 = suspension
Group 8 = body, interior, SRS, A/C, Climate control
Group 9 = Accessories
Each failed part# can have a multitude of labor operation #s attached to them and just looking at the failed part # can lead one to erronously conclude that a part has been replaced. For example, look at the claim on 09/10/02 for the battery and ECM. The ECM referred to here is the T-7 Trionic unit. Was it replaced; may be or may be not. A labor operation # would be needed to tell for sure. The ECM may have been removed and reintalled, replaced, checked, or adjusted (software updated) The failed part # would be the same (24810) but there could be 4 different labor operation #s (24810-01, 24810-02, 24810-03, 24810-04). All we know for sure is that on 9/10/02 dealer 1606 did something with the T-7. The repair order from that dealer would be needed to find out for sure. In this case J.M.K. Saab in NJ.
The same date something was done to the battery. Again it could have been charged, checked or replaced. Sometimes mutiple operations are performed which is why you sometimes see the same failed part # on the same date 2 or more times.
Hope this helps,
Steve
