Well I just purchased a 2000 9-5 Aero with the ventilated seats option. I noticed the driver side fog light is smashed after 2 hours of owning the car driving on the 401 in Ontario. It also seems more like a highway cruiser than a fast changing gear japanese car. I noticed a big bouncing in the suspention. I am not sure if it's the 17" rim's or the shocks are worn. It's an Aero model, so 16" rim's with taller sidewalls don't fit. It is a UNIQUE car. And it take's unique money to keep 'em running proberly. After reading the boards here, I think my opinion is this:
Saab 9-5 is better than BMW,Mercedez. Saab is unique and has certain problems that need to be fixed ($$$) but is worth the money to justify cost.
People who own Saab's are more popular and intelligent than most car owners. (just look at all the advice on the boards)
I am proud to be part of this niche group.
I have my complete service history.
All oil changes were performed + spark plug.
The car has 74,000Km.
The heater unit was replaced because it was a blank screen during start up.
The Reverse synchrose gears in the Transmission were replaced after grinding failure.
Other than these minor fixes, the car is in good shape.
I am still looking for a service manual (fix it yourself tips instruction manual) available to Canada. If someone has a link, please advise.
I hope to contribute more to this forum, once I know more about Saab's and can be of help.
Thanks for reading.
Ryan
