In the presence of a heavy load, the alternator's regulator should compensate and still attempt to provide ~14V of output to the battery.
First, test the battery and see if it is discharged or incapable of holding a charge using a simple glass hydrometer. If any of the cells are different from each other by 25%, then the battery may be failing internally.
Then hook a voltmeter to the battery and measure the voltage when the car is idling. The measurement should be around 14 volts, and stay steady there. If it is less, suspect the altenator brushes are worn and need replacement.
Then turn on the heater blower, rear defroster, and headlights. The meter should dip to about 13.0 V or so, then march back upward to 13.5 V and stay steady. If not, again... brushes.
