oil sensor leak / oil consumption

I bough 2002 9.5 with 78k mi.
When I bought it it had a major oil (you can see oil dripping)leak from the oil sensor and a minor liak from the are of the timing cover, most likely from the crank seal.
I drove the car from TX to CA about 2200mi, with no visible reduction in oil level, checked it at every gas station.
Then I replaced the oil sensor and cleaned and applied sealant to the oil pan. Changed oil, used mineral 10w40 as a temperary fill to check the repair, since I was planning to fix crank seal later. Drove a car around the block, checked oil - it was OK.
BUT after deriving less than 100mi engine oil incdicator came on, I had to add 1 qrt. A few days later after 50-60mi same thing again.
No back smoke, no oil in the coolant, no oil ander the car.
Any ideas? I see two variables mineral oil and oil sensor, but nither should have such huge impact on oil consumption.
