I was always under impression that the best way to reduce rust in winter is actually NOT TO WASH the car much and absolutely not to put it in a heated garage. I makes a total sense to me since when washing (especially when high-pressure washing) you just mix salt and water and put it in all the crevices that are normally may not even be exposed to salt.
As for heated garage - as any chemical process, a corrosion rate increases exponentially with temperature. Plus all the snow and ice melting every day.
