EBC brake job (DIY) Posted by frank [Email] ![]() ![]() |
I am about to replace my front brake pads with ebc pads and replace my rotors with new SAAB stock rotors.
Couple questions:
Pad replacement:
1) Do EBC pads need any antisqueal gel put on the pad backside to prevent screeching. I noticed the inboard pad has a flexible rubbery pad adhered to it's backside - I assume it's for the purpose of antisqueal protection - since they say these pads do not squeal?
2) And should I put any antisqueal on the outboard pad backside - it does not have the same rubbery pad on it?
Rotor replacement:
1) When pulling the caliper housing off to replace the rotor, I remove the caliper housing bolts. And when relplacing the rotor there is a rotor locking bolt (I've read).
Should I apply a locktite gel (read #242 is best) to the caliper bolts and the rotor locking bolt?
Since not having done this before I am not sure of the safest procedure to ensure the bolts stay secure.
Any input appreciated.
