The two cars are very different in temperment. My wife's 2000 A4 1.8T with sport suspension will easily out handle my 2001 Aero Wagon on twisty roads. There is simply no comparison. If you had chipped your A4 to 1 bar the power difference would not be that great.
The Aero is most at home streaking down a highway at 85+ mph....very comfy and secure. However, the steering of the Aero is much more responsive than the Audi, so it is wise to keep two hands on the wheel at higher speeds. The Audi is a one hander - it tracks as if on rails.
If I had to choose one of our cars for a long highway trip, it would be the Aero. If I were contemplating a day of mountain driving, the Audi would be my pick.
I still haven't gotten used to the torque steer in the Aero. I know it's not bad, but it's there, and on a ripply surface the car can get darty under hard throttle.
Love 'em both!!!
