Actually I have an East Coast perspective, where Volvo, Audi, Subaru and many others like BMW and Merc are capitalising big time on AWD. When you mention Acura, you failed to mention that their new flagship is AWD. Every auto journalist has been hammering AWD into gullible auto buyers minds for years. It's hard to fight. As for the 9-5, it's not what the purists think that's important. I for one, would not buy another one just because of the DI fiasco. How can they prolong the life of a power plant with such a fault is bewildering and frankly insulting, not to mention the 9-3 will shortly have V6 power available but not the flagship 9-5. Nevertheless, I agree with you the car is excellent, but the truth of the mater, and you are the first one to feel it, it's not selling anymore; so back to your initial question. Will another MCE do the job? Very unlikely. I guess what I wanted to say is that it's a shame GM did not acknowledge the importance of the 9-5 for Saab. Let's not forget, this is the car that saved Saab back when the 9-3 was getting too long in the tooth to keep up with its competitors, sales-wise and otherwise. We are living the exact same situation, except for the new but clumsy GM initiatives to boost Saab sales. I firmly believe the core of the brand should be a contemporary 9-3 and 9-5 lineup. The rest would be gravy. But then, I'm not GM eh.
Cheers
