Use only Mobil 1 0W40. If you change your own, you have the option of M1 5W40. If you have a 2004+, you really need to stick to M1 0W40 to adhere to the letter of the recommendations in the owner's manual.

One should always be aware of the oil recommendations for current production engines. Oils change and so does the understanding of what works and what does not. An old owner's manual is an artifact.

And the sludge letters override the recommendations in older owner's manuals as well.

If you have an older engine that has not been on synthetic and has a history of short trips, it would be prudent to examine for sludge before changing to synthetic.
