Wheel bearing question

My 1999 9-5 is closing in on 100,000 miles. (only 1 DI failure to report at 58k miles).
With past autos I've regreased the wheel bearings as preventitive maintenance,(cheaper than replacing). My questions is can one remove the lug plate from the spindle and gain access to grease the bearings ?
I know that on my old 1986 9000 the supposedly lifetime sealed bearings were pretty easy to access and regrease, and indeeed were beginning to dry out when I regreased them.
Thanks
