Oil pressure light on in V6, sludge?

My oil pressure light has been coming on at idle. It happens after I've driven for about 15 minutes or more and idling. It flikkers a bit, and then gets more steady, and then the triangle and chime kick in. As soon as I step on the gas the light goes out. Also if I put the car in neutral and just keep the revs a little higher (1000) it also goes out.
The car has plenty of fresh, dealer installed oil. Could this be a sludge problem? I've heard of the I-4s having sludge problems, but nothing about v-6s. Could idle speed be set too low? It looks to be around 600 rpm. A faulty pressure switch?
Thanks for any feedback -- Erwin
