Fronts at just under 30 K miles is short life, but within a range that gets reported here. Rear anything at under 30 K is very much under the average life of brake components. Saab pads on the 9-5 tend to be pretty abraisive on the rotors and rotors today have been thinned out to the minimum thickness tha the purchasing agent can tolerate! Days of 100 K plus miles on rotors are a thing of the past. If your car is an auto, and it's first owner drove it hard, that might explain the fronts, but I'm still wondering why your rear brakes got that much of a workout. Also, as someone else in this thread pointed out, do you want to pay labor to do only your front pads just because your rotors might have another 10 K miles in them? Then you get to put on new rotors, and they will probably argue then that you should preferably use new pads on new rotors. ( A valid point).
